Malaysia is currently recording five-digit numbers of daily new Covid-19 cases, and its death toll has gone beyond the 10,000-mark. Among the Covid-19 deaths, hypertension is one of the common underlying comorbidities. Studies have shown that people with Covid-19 and hypertension have a higher risk of developing more severe illness, higher rates of Intensive Care Unit admission and death. In Malaysia, 3 in 10 people had hypertension, according to the National Morbidity and Mortality Survey 2019. It is more worrying that almost half of them were unaware of having it. Without proper medical treatment, they will have a higher risk of developing more severe illnesses. It also increases the risk of them getting a heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, and even premature death. Watch video : Hypertension: Control Your Blood Pressure
